Titanium is a non-ferrous metal, grey, atomic number 22, relative atomic mass 47.867.

Excellent Capability of Corrosion Resistance: Titanium is quite stable in oxidizable, neutral and weak reducible mediums. In room temperature, Titanium will not be corroded by dilute hydrochloric or sulfuric acid, nitric acid or dilute alkali solution except hydrofluoric acid, hot concentrated hydrochloric or sulfuric acid caused by compact, strong adhesive and great inert oxidation film outside itself which self-generated inside air or oxygenous medium. This film can be self-repaired or regenerated under 315 degrees Celsius. Therefor, Titanium is deemed as a metal that has the trend of forceful passivation. For improving its anti-corrosion capability, researchers have developed many technologies of surface treatment such as oxidation, plating, plasma painting, hydronium nitridation, hydronium injection and laser process, etc.

Low Density & High Specific Strength: The density of Titanium is 4.54g/cm3, 45% less than steel, 65% higher than aluminum, also less than copper and nickel and higher than magnesium. It has the top specific strength of metal. Its mechanical intensity is close to steel, two times of aluminum and 5 times of magnesium.

Tensile Strength close to Yield Strength: Titanium has high yield ratio than others. It means the plastic deformation of Titanium is poor. The high ratio of yield limit and modulus of elasticity of Titanium causes biggish ability of resilience during moulding process.

Avirulence and Nonmagnetic: No toxicity as well as better compatibility of human tissue and blood leads Titanium becomes as the broad used material for medical practice by now. Titanium is also a nonmagnetic metal which cannot be magnetized even in very strong magnetic field.

Wonder Aspirated Performance in High Temperature: Titanium is a very active metal which can be composited easily with carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen, etc. under high temperature.

Heat Resistance: The persistent working temperature could be reached up to 360 degrees Celsius for pure Titanium also 400 degrees Celsius, 500 degrees Celsius even >=600 degrees Celsius for Titanium alloy. Furthermore, Titanium Alpha alloy can sustain 900 degrees Celsius working temperature momently. Titanium can be burned inside hydrogen. Its theoretical melting point is up to 1660 degrees Celsius.

Low Temperature Resistance: The strength of low temperature resistance Titanium alloy, e.g. Gr5, Gr6 & Ti-2.5Zr-1.5Mo, will be advanced gradually by temperature reduction without obvious change of its plasticity. The ductibility and toughness of Titanium can be remained well even under temperature of -196~-253 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, black shortness can avoid, too. Titanium is a perfect material for -233 degrees Celsius low temperature vessel producing also, pure Titanium is suitable for making low temperature mechanical parts for environment under -259 degrees Celsius .

Great Heat-exchange Ability: Due to its excellent capability of anti-corrosion even though the thermal conductivity of Titanium is less than carbon-steel and copper, the wall-thick of Titanium products can be made more thinner instead. The heat-exchange way between Titanium surface and steam is dropwise condensation and its surface without scale formation will both reduce heat resistance and increase the uncommonly ability of heat-exchange.

Outstanding Anti-damping ability: Titanium has the longest vibration damping ability than other metal like steel and copper while vibrated by mechanism or electricity. According to this, Titanium is deemed as the ideal material to make tuning folk, vibration foil for advanced speaker and vibration components for medical ultrasonic disintegrator.

Low Modulus of Elasticity: Modulus of elasticity of material is a ratio against direct stress and opposite normal strain during elastic deformation. In macrographic angle of view, it is a scale to measure the ability of anti-elastic deformation but, in micrographic angle of view, it is a reflection of bonding strength among atom, ion or molecular. The modulus of elasticity of Titanium is 106.4GMPa in room temperature, 57% against steel.
