It supports the passenger flow investigation and statistic and the integrated statistic of traffic jam and accidents on the lines. It provides accurate data evidence for the public transportation operational management to master the passenger flow and make scientific and reasonable running plan by using the operational and dispatch law.

1. Equipments
Automobile Passenger Counter includes two parts, the control box and the infrared sensor.

The Infrared Sensor is consisted of infrared proximity sensor, preamplifier and bracket. The infrared sensors should be installed on the right door’s and the left door’s upside. The number of installed infrared sensors will be different because of the width of the door. It is usually 2 for the right door and 3 for the left door.

2. Working Principle
After the automobile passenger counter detects the opening signal, it starts to count the passengers through infrared sensors and send the data to the control box, which will analyze and process these data. When the automobile passenger counter detects the closing signal, it will send the number of passengers that get on and get off the bus to the GPS Vehicle Terminal through CAN highway, which will process the data and them to the background through wireless network so the background can real-time monitoring the buses’ passenger flow volume data.

The parameter can be set through passenger flow dispatcher according to different buses and the parameter will be immediately valid as soon as the set is finished (no need to restart) and the automobile passenger counter will save the parameter in EEPROM. The automobile passenger counter will automatically read the last-set parameter when it starts up. The automobile passenger counter setter is mainly used for setting the parameter of automobile passenger counter and debugging it. The automobile passenger counter setter won’t affect the automobile passenger counter’s use if it is not installed.
